The world’s 2,365 billionaires added $ 4 trillion to their collective wealth

From March 18, 2020 to March 18, 2021, the world’s 2,365 billionaires added US $ 4 trillion to their collective wealth during the pandemic, according to a new report from the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS). Their combined wealth increased from US $ 8.04 trillion to US $ 12.39 trillion, an increase of 54%. By comparison, China’s GDP in 2019 was $ 12.23 trillion.

The richest 20 billionaires alone added US $ 742 billion to their collective wealth during a pandemic – a 68% increase, according to the report from the Institute for Policy Studie, which analyzes data from Bloomberg, Forbes and Wealth-X, those billionaire earnings have gone up. The richest 20 billionaires have a combined wealth of $ 1.83 trillion. By comparison, Australia’s GDP in 2019 was $ 1.3 trillion.
